When I look at a chart, the first thing I do is scan the price action to see if there are any recognizable patterns. As you can see from this one-year, daily candle chart of AMZN, there is a pattern of upside gaps that are followed by fairly long trading channels that have lasted about […]

The main benefit behind using a contingent buy order is that it saves you from buying a stock that is being controlled by the sellers. Many times it’s tempting to buy a stock when you feel that it’s hit a bottom however, if the stock is not bouncing off of a key support level, the […]

As you can see from the 3-year weekly chart of Google, the stock rallied quite a bit in 4-weeks ago and just after a bullish engulfing showed up on the chart. This week, the stock is showing a long shadow above the candle, which suggests that the sellers are starting to move into the stock.

Last week I was very clear about waiting for the green candle before buying into OIL. We never got the green candle that we were waiting for and the stock wound up breaking out below support. This is a perfect example of how important the contingent buy can be with regard to managing risk. Risk […]

Let’s go through the checklist…There is a gap above the market, we have a well-defined green candle, and the volume has been dropping as the price has been falling (bullish). I did not add a 50-day moving average to this chart, but if I did you would see a very wide divergence from the SMA, […]

We will not be getting into this position until we see a green candle. The green candle will be a signal that buyers are entering into a long position therefore forming a pivot point to the upside. Remember, you want to put your money where the money is going, which means we will be buying […]
